Forest Bishop

2017 Scholarship Recipient Forest Bishop, EIT, received a $3,500 SEAW Scholarship Award.

He graduated in May from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in Architecture Science, and will continue at WSU for his graduate studiies, pursuing a Master of Science in Structural Engineering.

Forest participated in the ASCE Student Chapter, serving as Recruitment and Retention Chair and participating on the Concrete Canoe team. An Alaska native, Forest graduated from Kodiak High School. Before attending WSU, he had about 15 years’ experience in the Alaskan construction industry, obtaining a journeyman cement mason certification and starting his own construction company. He also served in the US Navy, spending some time with the Naval Architects and Engineers and earning an honorable discharge after combat service. Forest’s education also benefits from funding by a donor who specifically requested to support a student with military and construction experience.
