Henry Knight, EIT, received a $5,000 SEAW Scholarship in 2021. Hank received his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Washington in June 2021 and will begin his master’s program for structural engineering in the Fall. While at UW, he participated in the ASCE student chapter and served as a TA for several program courses. His internships include the Washington State Department of Transportation (learning construction inspection and traffic analysis) and the Boeing company (learning structural fatigue monitoring and data analysis), and in Summer 2021 he will intern at Coughlin Porter Lundeen in Seattle. Born and raised in Spokane, he volunteers often at community homeless shelters, food banks, and state/city parks. Hank enjoys active outdoor doings, including running, biking, camping, and hiking, even summiting Mt. Adams in 2020.Hank says, “Combining the technical satisfaction structural engineering work gives me with the opportunity it brings to improve the lives of the people around me, I cannot imagine a better field of engineering to dedicate my career to.”
