Postings here, document and acknowledge the achievements of individuals honored by the Structural Engineers Association of Washington (SEAW) since the 1950 establishment of the organization.
Jon Siu
Jonathan 'Jon' Siu served as the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections's Principal Engineer/Building Official beginning in 2008, and on the SEAW Board. He has represented SEAW and the City of Seattle in work on the ICBO and ICC Code Development Committees.
With SEAW, he served on the Seattle Chapter Board and on the post-earthquake reconnaissance team for the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami. He has frequently presented SEAW seminars and authored or co-authored SEAW/WABO White Papers on critical topics.
His work on the acceptance of Performance Based Design of concrete core-wall high-rise buildings led to its successful adoption in Seattle and in other west coast municipalities.
He has provided committee leadership for the Structural Committee and the International Code Council (ICC) Tall Wood Buildings Structural Committee. In 2016, the ICC recognized Jonathan C. Siu with its Bobby J. Fowler Award, and in 2018 NCSEA presented him with the James Delahay Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions towards the development of building codes and standards.
